I’ve gotta tell you another way of getting into self defense shape is the – Wii way to fitness. The Wii Nintendo game system is not sophisticated as the PS3 by Sony, its basic and way lots FUNNER to play with!! (Excuse me I mean train.)
Especially when you’re playing the Boxing game.With 2 controls, 1 in each hands. You mimic the motion of punches from boxing. Like jab, cross, hooks, uppercut, haymaker, etc…. Whats great about it is the conditioning that you get out of it. Imagine punching for 2 minutes straight, boy I’d be running out of gas after 30 seconds.
Once you’re in shape try doing the 3 round matches with a pair of wrist weights attached to your wrists. (don’t hyperextend) Then, to add further conditioning, try doing squats, push-ups or crunches in between the rounds. I tried this and man, did it burn, my legs, arms, and shoulder was just burning.
Using the Wii game is a great alternative (FUN!!) way to train.
